Troubleshooting

My submission is stuck or taking too long

The Polling Process

When WeFile submits your return, it goes into a queue at HMRC or Companies House. We then have to 'poll' their systems—regularly checking back to ask, 'Is it processed yet?' We do not control how fast the government processes the queue.

Typical Wait Times

Under normal conditions, a submission is usually processed and accepted within minutes. However, during peak filing periods (such as late December or March), the government gateways can become heavily congested, leading to processing delays.

Stuck in 'Pending'

If your filing status says 'Pending', it means we have successfully transmitted the data, but the government has not yet provided a final Accepted or Rejected status. Your filing is safe; it is simply waiting in their queue.

When to Wait

Do not attempt to create a new submission if your current one is pending. Submitting again will likely cause a duplicate error. It is perfectly normal for a submission to remain pending for several hours during busy periods.

When to Contact Support

If your filing has been stuck in the 'Pending' status for more than 24 hours, the government gateway may have dropped the connection. At this point, please open a support ticket so our engineering team can manually investigate the transmission logs.
