Importing trial balance from Xero

To save time and reduce manual data entry errors, WeFile allows you to import your trial balance directly from Xero. This integration maps your Xero chart of accounts directly to our filing wizard.

OAuth Connection Flow

Navigate to the 'Integrations' section of your company dashboard and click 'Connect to Xero'. You will be redirected to Xero's secure login page to authenticate and grant WeFile read-only access to your financial data.

Selecting the Organisation

If your Xero account manages multiple organisations, you will be prompted to select the specific company that matches the one you are currently working on in WeFile. Ensure you select the correct entity.

Data Mapping

Once connected, WeFile pulls your trial balance for the specified accounting period. Our system intelligently maps your Xero account codes (e.g., Sales, Cost of Goods Sold, Bank Accounts) to the correct Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet lines required for Companies House and HMRC.

Reviewing Imported Data

After the import, you will be guided through the WeFile wizard with the fields pre-populated. It is crucial that you review these figures. You remain responsible for the accuracy of the filing. You can manually adjust any imported figure before final submission.

Disconnecting

You can revoke WeFile's access to your Xero data at any time from the Integrations tab by clicking 'Disconnect'. This will not delete any data already saved to an in-progress filing.
