Cheapest CT600 software in 2026: what filing actually costs

Compare published CT600 filing costs with the important differences in view: VAT, per-filing versus annual pricing, and whether filing accounts with Companies House is included.

The short answer

Based on published prices checked 7 October 2026, Tax Optimiser had the lowest entry price at £10 + VAT per company per year, including Companies House filing. WeFile is not the cheapest; it charges a one-off, live-priced per-filing fee. The cheapest suitable option depends on whether you need Companies House filing, supplementary pages and support for your accounts type.

Compare the cost and the filing scope

A CT600 price alone does not tell you whether statutory accounts filing is part of the package.

Supplier prices checked 7 October 2026, excluding VAT where stated. WeFile prices are retrieved separately from live pricing; check all suppliers before buying.

Look beyond the headline fee

What affects CT600 filing cost?

01

VAT-inclusive or VAT-exclusive?

Compare the amount you will actually pay. A price marked “+ VAT” is not the checkout total; Taxley states that there is no VAT to add. Check each supplier’s current VAT treatment before buying.

02

Per filing or an annual plan?

A single return and several companies or accounting periods produce different totals under each model. A statutory period of account longer than 12 months can require two CT600 returns, even where the accounts cover one longer period.

03

Is Companies House filing included?

Submitting iXBRL accounts to HMRC is not the same as filing statutory accounts with Companies House. Some suppliers include that second submission, some sell it as an add-on, and others do not state that it is included.

04

Which accounts presentation do you need?

Check support for your actual accounts type: dormant, micro-entity FRS 105, small-company FRS 102 Section 1A or full FRS 102. A low advertised price for a micro return may not apply to another accounts type.

05

Are your supplementary pages supported?

Confirm the pages your company needs before comparing prices. WeFile supports CT600A and CT600E, but not CT600B–D or CT600F–P. Charity and CASC filings through WeFile are CT600-only.

06

What happens if you amend?

Check the supplier’s current amendment scope and charges, including whether revised Companies House accounts can be filed when needed. Do not assume an advertised original-return price covers an amendment.

07

Self-file or appoint an accountant?

If you can prepare and review accurate figures, software may suit you. More complex circumstances may call for professional advice. Ask an accountant for a quote rather than relying on an unsourced market-average fee.

A practical comparison

How to work out the true cost

Run these checks against your own filing needs before choosing the lowest advertised price.

  1. Add VAT to prices that exclude it.
  2. Add any Companies House accounts filing charge.
  3. Calculate the total for your companies and CT600 accounting periods.
  4. Confirm your accounts type and required supplementary pages are supported.
  5. Check whether the trial-balance import you need is available.
Where WeFile fits

WeFile isn’t the lowest published price — here’s what the fee covers

WeFile offers pay-per-filing pricing without a subscription requirement. For supported companies, one workflow prepares the CT600 and Companies House accounts, calculates Corporation Tax automatically and generates iXBRL accounts.

It supports CT600A and CT600E and trial-balance import from Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent and CSV. CT600E charity/CASC filings are CT600-only. WeFile appears on HMRC’s Corporation Tax commercial software suppliers list; this is not an endorsement, accreditation, approval or guarantee of acceptance.

CT600 software price FAQs

Among the published entry prices compared here on 7 October 2026, Tax Optimiser was lowest at £10 + VAT per company per year, with Companies House filing included. WeFile is not the cheapest. Check that the supplier supports your accounts and tax circumstances, and confirm its current price before buying.
Published software prices vary by supplier, VAT treatment, package and whether accounts filing is included. As one supplier’s example, WeFile shows £25 (indicative; confirm before purchase) for a trading filing and £15 (indicative; confirm before purchase) for a dormant filing, each charged per filing. These are not market-wide benchmarks.
No — not through HMRC’s former free online filing service, which closed on 31 March 2026. Normal online Company Tax Returns generally require commercial software. Paper CT600 filing is accepted only in narrow circumstances, including a reasonable excuse for not filing online or filing in Welsh.
Not always. Several suppliers in this comparison publish prices excluding VAT or marked “+ VAT”; Taxley states that no VAT needs to be added. WeFile’s applicable VAT treatment is shown at checkout. Confirm the total with the supplier before purchasing.
Sometimes. Tax Optimiser, Taxley, TinyTax and CT600Filing state that Companies House accounts filing is included in the compared offering. Andica’s CT600 software submits accounts to HMRC, not Companies House; Easy Digital Filing prices Companies House filing as an add-on. Check the package and accounts type you need.
Not necessarily. Check accounts-type eligibility, supplementary-page support, whether Companies House filing is included, VAT, amendments and the cost across all your companies and periods. The lowest entry price is only useful if the software covers your filing.
